Scholarship Descriptions

Joseph Wiley Blackston Memorial Scholarship
Award Amount: $350
Eligibility: Full-time doctoral students pursing degrees in educational leadership

Bob Depro Education Excellence Scholarship for Social Studies Majors
Award Amount: $5,000-$10,000
Eligibility: Undergraduate or graduate students in the School of Education who are majoring in social studies education. Preference is given to full-time students.

Robert B. Ellis Higher Education Scholarship
Amount: $1,000
Eligibility: Students enrolled in a degree program in the Department of Higher Education who demonstrate academic, leadership, and professional excellence.

John R. Fawcett Higher Education Scholarship
Amount: $1,000-$1,500
Eligibility: Full-time or part-time graduate students enrolled in a degree program in the Department of Higher Education. First preference is given to Veterans of the United States Military.

Thomas Richardson and Alice Ragland Lamar Memorial Scholarship
Amount: $1,000
Eligibility: Full-time students enrolled in the School of Education

North Mississippi Education Consortium Scholarship – Graduate
Amount: $1,000
Eligibility: Recipients will be Mississippi school superintendents or principles pursing a doctorate degree in the School of Education who are from the region served by the North Mississippi Education Consortium and have attended or work at member school districts.

Glynne and Ann Simpson Scholarship
Amount: $1,500-1,900
Eligibility: Recipients will be students pursuing a graduate degree in the School of Education with first preference being given to University graduates who have taught at least two years at an accredited school within Mississippi and returning as graduate students.

Pamela P. and Jerome W. Smith Excellence in Educational Leadership Scholarship
Amount: $1,000
Eligibility: Recipients will be students enrolled in a doctoral degree program for educational leadership, with first preference being given to students who will concurrently practice in education as they pursue their doctoral degrees.

Lindsey O. Todd Scholarship in Education
Amount:  $3,000
Eligibility:  Recipients shall be master’s or doctoral degree students in Education with a preference given to former Mississippi community college students, current or former Mississippi community college faculty, or employees, and/or current education practitioners.  Recipients should aspire to serve at a high level as a public school of community college administrator.

Renasant Bank Scholarship
Amount:  $2,000
Eligibility:  Graduate students pursuing a master’s degree in curriculum and instruction, with a specialization in applied behavior analysis.
